CIAMAR 2024
NEARETIRING A BIG OPPORTUNITY FOR MEXICO
The 8th edition of the International AMAR Congress (CIAMAR) took place on August 21 and 22, 2024, in Mexico City, organized by the Mexican Association for Retirement Assistance (AMAR).
The CIAMAR event brought together leaders and experts from various fields to discuss and analyze emerging trends in the Retirement Assistance Industry in Mexico. Over two days of learning and networking, attendees explored crucial topics in health, economics, architecture, and law, with a common goal: ensuring that retirees in Mexico can enjoy a dignified retirement full of opportunities.
One of the most notable aspects of the event was the diversity of panels offered, aimed both at newcomers to the industry and those already involved who are seeking to expand their horizons. For newcomers, panels such as "The Economic Impact of the 50+ Sector," "The Impact of the Retirement Assistance Industry on Real Estate, Services, and Hospitality," and "Financing and Institutional Support for Retirement Community Development" provided valuable insights into market dynamics and emerging opportunities.
For their part, more experienced participants found inspiration for new initiatives in panels such as "Intergenerational Projects" and "What's Happening in Retirement Communities in Mexico." These sessions not only addressed current trends but also offered perspectives on how to attract foreign retirees, a topic of growing interest in the region.
One of the main topics was *Nearetiring*, an innovative concept referring to the reverse migration of individuals over 50 to attractive destinations such as beaches and *pueblos mágicos* in Mexico. This phenomenon is particularly relevant for Hispanic communities in the United States and Canada, who seek retirement in places that offer quality of life, culture, and well-being.
In addition, the event marked a milestone with the signing of an agreement between the National Network of Medical Tourism Clusters and AMAR, a partnership that promises to strengthen collaboration in the development of services and communities dedicated to retirement.
